• Dealer Scam Alert 5/6/19
WATDA has received calls from dealers in the central part of the state informing us that there is an individual (know as Tanner Ligenza) who has purchased vehicles by passing checks from a non-existing account. From the information we have received, he is targeting late model full sized SUVís in the $30-$40,000 range. WATDA suggests that whenever someone attempts to purchase a vehicle with a personal or cashierís check, that dealers do their best due diligence to ensure that the checking account exists, that it is in the name of the individual writing the check, that there are sufficient funds to cover the check. In the case of a cashierís check, you should always call the lending institution that issued the check to verify itsí authenticity.
